Christopher Charles Shaw

February 20, 1964 – October 17, 2008

The world lost a very special person a minute before the clock turned to a new day. Chris was known to his classmates as a special individual with exceptional scholastic gifts, and as such they have chosen to honour his memory with the creation of a scholarship fund in his name at the University of Toronto Schoool (UTS).


Here is the information for the Christopher Shaw Memorial Fund. Some classmates prefer a bursary to a scholarship but it depends on how much money is raised. Either way, it will be something annual, in perpetuity, not a one time thing. Also, the point was made that it focus on computer science with math secondarily, rather than the other way around. If you would like to send this info to friends and family not connected with the school, that would be great. The development office is adding a note about this fund to the annual donor letter reminder that goes out to those in the class of 1980. Hope you are well. Some sort of dedication will be made at the 100th anniversary of the school in 2010. NomiDonations can be made in the following ways:

1. By cheque payable to the UTS Foundation. Donors should indicate on the cheque’s memo line or in an accompanying note that the donation is for the Christopher Shaw Scholarship. The cheques can be mailed to the UTS Office of Advancement,121-371 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON M5S 2R7.

2. By Visa or MasterCard
